Star brand hand-operated 'bellows' vacuum cleaner. Patent no. 18899.
Brief History
The Star vacuum cleaner was made by the Star Engineering Co Ltd of Wolverhampton, which patented it in 1910. It is a manual non-electric vacuum cleaner. A rod extending from the handle is pulled and pushed by the user to create a bellows action, sucking dust and air in through the cleaning head. Star Engineering Co ceased to manufacture these vacuum cleaners in 1938.
