Photocopies of the Air Ministry forms for airworthiness and registration filled out by Jean Batten.
1. Form 59 for airworthiness, dated 16 September, 1936, signed by or on behalf of the Deputy Director of Civil Aviation. Includes nominal, nationality and residential details for Jean Batten; details for aircraft constructor company and registration; technical specifications for the aircraft including class of aircraft, classification of aircraft, engine details, airscrews, weight and compulsory conditions for flying. Second part of form specifies precautions to be taken for safety in navigation and a section for entering periodical overhauls carried out. There is one entry for an overhaul carried out in Gravesend, Kent, England on 10 September, 1936 with a satisfactory result valid until 29 September 1936. It is stamped an signed by an Air Ministry official.
2. Form 71 for registration of an aircraft, dated 19 August, 1935 signed by or on behalf of the Director of Home Civil Aviation. Declares registration in Great Britain and Northern Ireland in accordance with the Convention for the Regulation of Aerial Navigation, dated 13 October, 1919. Includes a note on the aircraft type, aircraft constructor, and owner. Subsequent pages 2 -4 are supporting notes for the form. The application for registration section is signed by Jean Batten. The fee for registration was £110.
