Description
Compass brand snow boots used by Derek Wright during Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958).
Cream coloured canvas boots with black rubber sole; boots have ties (cream with pinstripe) that wraps around top of foot, ankle and shin. Boots have an inner lining of white wool. Maker's label attached to inside of lining "small / Compass / 1 / SW" and name label tag sewn above label "Derek Wright". "S" stamped in black to inside of exterior layer of boots. Handwritten to outside of boots is "WRIGHT".
