Description
"We depart Waipara's glenmark station on the footplate of A 428. From here our train leaves the North Canterbury plains to climb through a series of graceful curves, through majestic limestone cuttings and formations in the weka pass area and finally arriving at the line's terminus at waikari, a distance of 13 kilometres.
The return trip features vintage diesel-electrics DG's 791 and 770 at the head of the train.
See A 428 on a special railfan photographers' mixed train, also historic locomotives F13 (Peverill) and F 163 together again after a period of 36 years double-heading a vintage goods train.
We take a look at the 1999 Waipara vintage festival featuring steam locomotives F13, F163, W192, WD 357 and A 428 and diesel powered locomotives DG's 770, 791, and DSA 276.
We follow F 163 on her way home to Palmerston North as it skirts the Main North Line north of Kaikoura." - back of cassette.
