Brief History
This is a copy of the popular game Sid Meier's Pirates!. The game was created in 1987 initially for the Commodore 64 platform.
As a single-player, open world game, its appeal was wide-spread and was particularly popular with female players. The open world, or nonlinear, nature of this game, a concept used throughout the 1980s, allowed the player to make choices which impacted the game play.
