Description
Projection Vertexometer. This object was used to check and verify the power of contact lenses. The power range was +/- 25.00 dioptres.
Rectangular-shaped object with a cream coloured body. The front of the object is grey with a black screen with a circular grid. Around the top half of the circle is a scale starting from 0 to 180 in increments of 10. There is a black metal shade which extends out at the front, shielding the screen from light. The back panel of the object is grey. At the top is a metal plate that reads, “PROJECTION / VERTEXOMETER / Nikon.” Below is a grille and at the bottom is a small label which reads “NIPPON KOGAKU K. K. / MADE IN JAPAN”. The object has four circular black feet and a square base. There is a black power cord which is connected to the unit on the left.
On the front below the screen is a small plate to the left which reads “Nikon”. Below the screen is a rectangular box with a black circular button. To the right is a black lever, with another button behind it. Below this is another rectangular box with an adjustment knob on the right. On the top of the rectangle is a cylindrical contact lens mount, which reads “D. 7mm” in white. This item is held down with tape. At the bottom of this section is a black horizontal dial with a scale from 0 to 170 in increments of 10.
