Brief History
This radiogram is an example of the large furniture style radios that became popular in the early-mid 20th century. These items filled the role many people now use televisions for, a large entertainment console for use in the living room. This particular unit comes with AM radio and gramophone functionality.
Sheffield Radio Limited was a local manufacturer of radios based in Whangarei operating from the 1930s to 1960s. They manufactured radios and chassis for various dealers throughout New Zealand under the Sheffield, Atomic, Chappel, Golden Bell, and Silvertone brands.
