"Viking" record with plastic cover and cardboard sleeve. Titled "Take off for Martial Music around the world". 12-inch, 33⅓ rpm, LP, vinyl.

Part 1: Record. Side 1: The record has an orange label. The "Viking" logo is at the top of the label, printed in black. Underneath this reads, "REG TRADE MARK / VIKING RECORD COMPANY LTD. / MADE IN NEW ZEALAND / MARTIAL MUSIC AROUND THE WORLD". The bottom half of the label lists the track listings, "1. Part 2: Plastic sleeve, shaped to hold the vinyl record.
Part 3: Cardboard sleeve. This is made from cardboard with a glossy finish. On the front it reads, "TAKE OFF / for / MARTIAL / MUSIC / around / the world". The text is white and is a presented on a black, pink, and red background. Underneath this, black text reads, "Featuring the Bands and State Trumpeters of the Royal Horseguards. / The National Band of New Zealand. Ransome Hoffman Pollard Works Band. Band of the Royal Fiji Military Forces. University of Pacific Band. Massed Bands and Pipes and Drums of the British Armed Forces". At the top right of the sleeve is the "Viking" logo, in white. At the bottom of the sleeve in the centre is "SPVP119 STEREO" printed in white. There is an image of a PAN AM plane that has just taken off on the bottom half of the sleeve.

On the back of the sleeve, black text in the top right corner reads "SPVP119 STEREO". This record produced by Viking Records contains music performed by various brass and pipe bands from the Pacific and United Kingdom.

Viking Records was a local New Zealand recording company based in Wellington. It was established in the late 1950s by Murdoch Riley who had previous experience in the New Zealand Broadcasting Service and at Radio Corporation NZ's TANZA recording label. The Viking label featured local musicians with a strong focus on Māori and Pacific artists and content.
