Description
20 black and white photographic prints of South Africa, taken and compiled by Cliff Le Couteur. Images include city scapes of Durban, Batavia, Cape Town, Johannesburg; country landscapes; scenes of South African residents. Including images taken from the Empire Exhibition, originally held in Britain and then held in Milner Park, Johannesburg from the 15th September 1936 until 15th January 1937. In 1936 Cliff Le Couteur moved to South Africa where he worked and learnt to fly aircraft. In 1937 Cliff returned to New Zealand to marry his wife Doris, after which he then returned with her to South Africa. Cliff and Doris left South Africa in 1939 to return to New Zealand.
