Colour poster issued by the Railway Studios, printed by Christchurch Press Company. Poster advertising the Christchurch - Invercargill Night Express down the South Island Main Trunk line.
Poster has boarder with title text and left corner recto is sub title: 'Southbound' with adhered sheet with timetable of Southbound trains from Christchurch - Invercargill. Sheet covers timetable information printed direct onto poster. Original timetable partially visible.
On right corner recto is adhered sheet with timetable of Northbound trains from Invercargill - Christchurch. Sheet covers timetable information printed direct onto poster.
Center of poster is colour lithograph image of a landscape with rail tracks and three sheep in the foreground. There is a light on the rail and sheep which suggests and oncoming train not visible within the image.
