"This summary will specify fairly precisely the external formats of the main structures accepted by our grammar testing system (G. T. S.) and the interpretation which we give to them. The reason for producing this now, before the system is completed, is to encourage grammar writers to use our formats so that they will be able to test their grammars without the bother of converting notations..." --Abstract.
