Description
Three folders relating to the history of totalisators and their use at racecourses. Includes a lot of New Zealand relevant content, including reference to research and a visit to a totalisator at a racecourse in Palmerston North. Includes some photocopied material; ephemeral items such as tote tickets, brochures and clipped articles; correspondence about Doran’s research in this area (which reference to setting up the history of computing display at University of Auckland); print-outs of Doran’s writings. This material on tote machines was been collected for articles on the history of these machines, as well as their use in New Zealand. There is also some material which refers to the MOTAT object, totalisator 1965.305. Date period refers to earliest clipped article.
