Description

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK.

Part One: Silver and grey Panasonic laptop. The device has a bulky, robust exterior and is fitted with a retractable carry handle. There is a catch that helps to lock the device closed when not in use. At the top of the handle is a compartment into which the laptop’s stylus can be inserted for storage when not in use. Next to the handle is a power button. A switch is located underneath this next to white printed writing “WIRELESS / OFF / ON / [symbols]". “TOUGHBOOK” has been embossed on the front of the object in the centre. As sticker has been stuck overtop and appears to have once had handwritten text that is now illegible “[illegible text] / 1. / New [?]”. Above this, “Panasonic” is embossed.

On the left side of the device are a series of ports secured behind panels which can be slid or opened to access features. “EX / PUSH / PC / MP / [symbol]” is printed in white text. On the left side of the device are a series of ports secured behind panels which can be slid or opened to access features. “PUSH / SD 1394 [symbols]” is printed in white text. The rear of the laptop has a series of ports and attachments for cables. “LOCK” is printed in white at the left-hand side.

On the back, two black Velcro strips have been adhered to the device. There is white text printed on the back of the device that reads “Panasonic / model No./ [text in foreign language] CF-30 / Personal Computer / [text in foreign language] / DC IN/[text in foreign language] c.c. 15.6V = 5.0A / 8B22 I.T.E / WARNING :DANGEROUS VOLTAGE INSIDE / NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE THIS UNIT. The device folds open from a hinge to display a glass screen and keyboard. Above the screen to the right, “TOUGHBOOK” has been printed. In the centre, below the screen, “Panasonic / CF-30” has been printed, “1” has been handwritten next to this.

On the base of the device is an alpha-numeric keyboard with the keys labelled in white and blue print. Below the keyboard is a trackpad with left and right mouse buttons for navigation. To the right of this, there are three small stickers adhered to display logos. The first of these is a Windows sticker printed with “[logo] / ® / Windows / VistaTM / Basic” in white. The next is printed with “[intel logo]® / Centrino® / Duo”. The last is blue with “energy[star] / ENERGY STAR” printed in white.

Part Two: Black stylus pen with long, narrow design and soft tipped end. Grooves have been engraved near the end of the stylus to assist with grip.
