Part 1: Brass denture press. The base of the press is solid and rectangular in shape. At the front of the base, “HANAU ENGINEERING CO” has been embossed. “BUFFALO NY USA” is embossed on the back of the base. From the base, a solid brass column extends up from each end, supporting the top of the press. “HANAU” has been embossed onto the front and back side of the top of the press. There is a screw fixture at the top with a hole through it to accommodate a turning key. A carry handle has also been attached to the press.

Above the base, a plate sits on top of a rigid spring. The plate has been shaped to fit around the side columns of the press. A similar plate can be found attached to the top of the object by an adjustable screw which is used to lift and lower the plate during in the denture making process. The space between the two plates is empty and designed to fit the flask moulds.

The mid-section is hollow and tapers upwards towards the front.
