Description
Certificate of war service appreciation of C E Kay, Group Captain. From: Manukau Country, NZ. 4th May 1946. The certificate text is surrounded by a coloured design. Across the top are three uniformed figures, the central figure has his arm draped across a globe with New Zealand on it. Above the globe are clouds with three flying planes. On the right side of the group is a tank, on the left side of the group is a ship. Two flags on poles can be seen on both sides of the text. Both flags hang to the point where the ends have been gathered together with a rope. At this point kowhai flowers and leaves can be seen behind the flags. Under the text is a red corporate seal.

Manukau
The Chairman, councillors and inhabitants hereby place on record their admiration, appreciation and thanks for the gallant conduct of
G. Cpt. C. E. Kay. O.B.E., D.F.C.
who served his King and country in the Second World War which commenced on the 3rd September 1939.
In witness whereof the corporate seal of the County of Manukau is hereto attached in the presence of
