Description

Parachute seat pack and harness - Pilot's RAF issue 1940. No. GQ 21861 (no chute). Large brown pack with 4 flaps and a solid pair of canvas extensions on the side. The canvas strap has a metal spring clasp at the end which then attaches onto another canvas strap which bifurcates into 2 ends with a metal rod at each end. Textile label stitched to front of pack: "G.Q. 37 / Manufactured by / THE / G.Q. PARACHUTE Co. LTD. / STADIUM WORKS, WOKING, ENGLAND. / Type PILOT Det. Seat / No. G.Q. 21861 / Date. 15 NOV 1940".
