Description

Cordless switchboard known as the "beehive". This 10-line board uses drop-shutters to indicate the calling line. It came from Kaitieke (near Taumarunui). The switchboard consists of a large brown wooden box and a black bakelite handset slung on the left hand side. The front panel consists of 3 rows of 11 toggle switches each. The top row has 10 orange and one white toggle switch. The centre row again consists of 10 orange and one white toggle switch. The bottom row has 11 black toggle switches. A crank handle can be seen on the left hand side of the unit.
