Brief History
During the 1970s the New Zealand Forest Service operated three Dodge manufactured ambulances. This ambulance was based at Waipa Sawmill, near Rotorua. The sawmill had been operating since 1935/39, and would grow to be one of the largest sawmills in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Forest Service was established in 1919 (then known as the State Forest Service). Ambulances were based at selected mills in order to reduce the response time if accidents occured.

The reference to "Fare 2220 kg" in the 'Description' above should perhaps be "Tare 2220 kg" being the Tare Weight.

Officially registered as a 1977 Dodge D5N200, one of at least three Dodge ambulances used by the NZ Forest Service. The number 88010 is the Forest Service plant number.
