Caterpillar 22, bulldozer 1935. Giant disced 7,000 acres 1939-1945 as well as general farm work and contract log pulling - run solely on "Peak" kerosene from the Moturoa Refinery, New Plymouth.
Brief History
This tractor was purchased in 1935 for £686 by a farmer in Urenui, Taranaki. During its working life, it was used to pull a set of ‘giant discs’ over 7000 acres to prepare the land for planting in pasture. The tractor was also used for general farm work and dragging logs out of the forest.
The Caterpillar Twenty-two was a very popular tractor, of which over 15,000 were built between 1934 and 1939. Some are still in use today.
