Description
Enamel candle holder. The base is round with the actual holder opening in the centre. There is a round handle at one end to insert the finger making it easy to carry the holder.
Brief History
Candles, usually home-made from tallow or wax, were a key source of light prior to electricity. The candlestick allowed the candle to be carried more safely and provided a saucer for the molten wax or tallow.
