Description
Round tin badge, white background, black ring on perimeter and the words: "London Christchurch International Air Race October 1953" printed in red. In the centre of the badge the words: "Steward F. Rowarth" are printed in black. The map of the United Kingdom is printed in the North-West corner of the badge with the name "London" printed in red. The map of New Zealand is printed in the South-East corner of the badge with the name "Christchurch" printed in red. There is a long pin at the back of the badge for attachment.
The 1953 London to Christchurch air race, the "Last Great Air Race", was 19,800 km long, from London's Heathrow to Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand in October 1953.
