Plaque in Cameo style of Sir Arthur Whitten Brown in Case.
The plaque is ceramic (Wedgwood) and oval in shape with a white border. The bust of Sir Arthur is in profile facing left. He can be seen wearing a cap and uniform with a tie. His bust is in white on a light blue background. The back is light blue with the following words printed in gold lettering: "Sir Arthur Whitten Brown 1886 - 1948 / Who with Sir John Alcock made the first Transatlantic Flight / June 14th - 15th / 1919 / No.1 of a series struck specially by Wedgwood for Short Brothers & Harland Limited / Arnold Machin.A.R.A.Sculp." The word "Wedgwood" is inscribed below, and underneath that is inscribed the letter "J".
Box made of leatherette and with a black velvet lining and an oval well to accommodate the plaque.
