Description
Gas Mask - World War II civilian gas mask in cardboard box.
Mask consists of a black painted metal cylinder, one end regularly perforated, the other end with a rubber valve at centre, the cylinder containing a filter; a black rubber face piece which fits over the cylinder where it is held in place with a wide band of black rubber so valve end of cylinder is inside, the rubber has a cut out oval eye piece with clear plastic cover; rubber portion held to head by three straps of white cotton which join together at a T-shaped metal piece where each strap is held in position by a safety pin. The rubber below face mask is inscribed "L. & B. R. Co (G) MAR 1938"; the wide rubber band " POPPE LOT", in white and black.
