Description
Medal - 5 year service. United Fire Brigades Association. Silver-plated; round; with an exaggerated lip on the front side. The front has a fireman holding a hose, flanked on either side by a crest; the association's name printed around the top and a Latin motto across the bottom. The reverse side has printed information as to what the medal is, and to whom and when it was presented. The medal is suspended to a full-width bar, a draped rod with a shield centre and a bird emblem on top. The ribbon is red with a strong, horizontal pattern; at the top is a buckle with a clothes-pin behind and 3 prongs to secure the ribbon itself. This 5 year medal was presented to O.W. Bauer by the Manurewa B.C. (Burrough Council) - 14.8.45; and donated to MOTAT by his grand-daughter.
