Description
Seat Base - wood; shaped as a bicycle seat, contoured upper surface and a flat lower plane. Nail holes along the edge and bottom by which padding and a cover were fitted.
This piece relates to the operation of trams - the wood base of a seat from a horse-drawn tram. Handwritten note attached to base "ORIGINAL SEAT USED ON HORSE TRAMS BY DRIVER GILBERT HENRY ELLIOT (LATER INSPECTOR IN CHARGE A.C.T.)". Also hand engraved into base "GE".
