Description
Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) system for control of trains on tracks. Introduced to North Auckland Railway (Newmarket-Waitakere section) in 1964. Replaced tablet system of signalling using a signal box (e.g. Mt Albert Station). Comprises various components including train control desk - large control panel with a clock, volume meter, microphones on flexi-stands on the left-hand side, with a box containing three red buttons on top. On the right side of the panel is a phone jack and power socket and there is a phone jack on the back. Signal locations include: PAPAK[URA], HUNTLY, WHANGAREI, MT EDEN, MORNINGSIDE, AVONDALE, HENDERSON, WAITAKERE. The back panels have been removed (numbered as parts), revealing internal wiring. There are also three signal boxes, showing the Newmarket-Waitakere line - Newmarket to Mt Eden; Monringside to Henderson; Swanson to Waitakere. Other parts include side desk attachments, a tabletop panel and several access panel covers.
