Description
Colour portrait of head and shoulders of Jean Batten. Portrait is done in pastels. Depicts Batten wearing a flight helmet and goggles, and a blue, white and red scarf. Portrait is signed and dated in the lower right hand corner. Pisani, 18-11-1937. Portrait has brown matting.

Affixed to the matting is a label for the Royal Airforce Museum, London:
"Drawing, Pastel, U/M, 'Jean Batten', 20" x 14", Pisani, (Batten), RAF Museum [stamp], 79/P/339".

Stamped on the matting is "Clifford Milburn & Cos, Watercolour boards [detail of available boards], [numbers] Fleet Street, London EC4, [numbers] Oxford Street, London, W1".
