Description
-1 76 mm Shell Case from a M-41 tank. The white lettering on the bottom of the casing is AMMLOTIOP-2-1-X. On the base is AMMLOT IOP, 2-1-X CTG AP-T M?9. M32 and T124. Engraved in the base is M88B1.
The shell case is cylindrical. It is 76 mm in diameter where the shell ordinance is loaded. The shell case is probably copper. The casing has a dark brown patina. There is some oxidisation or staining on the inside of the empty shell casing. There is a firing zone in the centre of the base of the shell. The flange around the base of the shell extends about 5 mm from the side of the shell casing. The ordinance end has a 60 mm collar which is narrower than the rest of the casing.
-2 Cartridge case from Browning 0.50 Calibre machine gun bullet.
-3 SLR 308 ammunition belt (part) + 2 cartridge cases, one empty and one with a dummy.
Brief History
This is a 76 mm Shell Case from a M-41 tank. It is 76 mm in diameter where the shell ordinance is loaded. 1,082 M-41s were built by the Cadillac Division of General Motors at the Cleveland, Ohio, Tank Plant. The M-41 was named the Walker Bulldog in 1951 to honour General W.W. Walker, who was killed in a jeep accident in Korea that year.
