Description
Blue wool jacket with collar. There are 6 black buttons on the right jacket flap. On the left flap there is a tab with a button hole in it at the top, then 5 buttons holes on a hidden denim lining. At the shoulders there is an epaulette with 2 stripes on it on each side. These epaulettes are attached near the collar with a black button each. There is a pleated breast pocket with denim lining on either side. The pockets have a cover flap with a scalloped edge and a hidden button for closure. Above the left breast pocket is an embroidered pilot's badge: the letters 'NZ' surrounded by a laurel wreath, topped wing a crown and flanked by wings. There is also medal bar of purple and white diagonal lined (DFC).
At waist of the left jacket flap is a strap which fits into the buckle and belt loop on the right flap. The cuffs are lined with denim and have a single black button and hidden button hole. Jacket is pleated at the back, at the waist. Inside the jacket, the collar, button seams and waist are lined with denim. At the waist is a second strip of denim with 2 button holes in it. There are 2 interior pockets, each made of denim. At the shoulders are 2 denim tabs sewn into the area where the buttons of the epaulettes are sewn in. Seams around armholes are reinforced with white piping.
