Description
Air Force blue, worsted No.1 RNZAF tunic, short lapel, long cut jacket with 4 front patch pockets and one change pocket. Entry to the change pocket is via an opening between the right breast pocket and the right hip pocket. The patch pockets are positioned on the left and right breasts, and the left and right hips. There are 4 button holes down the front opening and 3 brass buttons down the right hand facing. The third brass button from the top is missing.
The breast pockets have scalloped flaps with dome fasteners in each corner. The hip pockets have large rectangular flaps. There is a vertical entry opening to an internal pocket. The opening is in the left front facing behind the breast patch pocket. The garment is fully lined with a purple cotton/satin lining. The fabric badge or brevet above the left breast pocket is a pilot's badge. There are 2 stripes around each sleeve about 80 mm from the sleeve cuff. The stripes are identical and the pattern is black/light blue/black. The waist belt is of wool and is sewn onto the tunic along the back. The belt ends in the front are not attached. There is a brass buckle with 2 pins on one end of the belt; and on the other end there are 4 sets of 2 holes. These holes have been hem stitched.
