Description
Bomber Command commemorative souvenir medal mounted on a cardboard plaque. The ribbon is light blue and orange. The medal is silver. On the obverse is a laurel wreath with RAF at the centre and a crown on top. Around the centre laurel wreath, are 6 smaller laurel wreaths with the brevet letters of the air crew - O, AG, E, B, WAG, N.
On the reverse, there is a Lancaster at the centre with the dates 1939, 1945 underneath. At the top is the inscription: A TRIBUTE TO THE AIRCREW OF BOMBER COMMAND. The medal is mounted in the top right corner. Underneath it are the specifications of the medal and a picture of the reverse of the medal. To the left of the medal is a commemorative pamphlet. It has the title "Bomber Command" depicted with a crest. Underneath is a heading printed in black: A LIMITED EDITION MEDAL COMMEMORATING THOSE WHO SERVED. There is a photo of the medal and of a Bomber Command Aircrew. All of the components of the plaque (medal, specifications, pamphlet cover) have been glued to a piece of cardboard. The cardboard is mounted on a piece of particle board with edges painted blue.
