Description
Drift recorder for an aircraft. The instrument comprises an eye piece made of brass with a magnifying glass which enables the viewer to see the ground surface below the aircraft. A silver dial on the left of the eye piece calibrates the height and windspeed. On the right hand side of the instrument, is a marking arm which would hold a marker. This arm scribes across a plastic surface marking the course drift from port to starboard. The drift range is 30° each way. "A-M / DRIFT RECORDER / MK II / 5244/43"
