Brief History
It is thought this tractor was imported by Brown and Dureau into New Zealand in 1937 on the ship Northumberland and bought from them by a farmer in Coatesville in 1937. It later moved to Glenbrook where it worked for 15 years before coming to MOTAT in 1967. The Model B was the best-selling 2-cylinder John Deere tractor ever produced. It was a medium sized tractor, especially useful for small farmers wanting to replace their horses with a machine.

The date of this tractor may be disputed due to the style additions to this tractor, or alternately it may be a 1936 model which has been modified.
