00.16” Recording begins. Sullivan gives brief background on TEAL’s use of Solent flying boats. Introduction to old recording (1940) of 1ZB announcer giving guided tour of arrival of flying boat, ZK-AMA Aotearoa. Request from TEAL asking people not to visit Mechanics Bay to see Aotearoa.

01.38” Description of ‘main lounge cabin’. Size of cabin.

02.35” Rear smoking compartment. Wall coverings. Luggage racks. Two smoking compartments on Aotearoa. Passengers’ seats. Green aluminium ashtrays.

04.50” Compartment at stern of aircraft. Back to main cabin. Describes ventilators.

05.56” Into ‘spa’ [‘staff’ ??] compartment.

06.35” Going up into cockpit by ladder. In nose of Aotearoa. Two pilot’s seats; good visibility. Instrument boards – air speed indicators; compasses; switches; engine speed indicators. Struts and welding similar to Meccano. 1940 recording ends.
