Brief History
Amstrad was founded by Alan Sugar in 1968. The name comes from Alan Michael Sugar Trading. Seeking to develop an IBM-compatible personal computer, by the end of 1985 Amstrad had worked out the specifications necessary. The PC1512 – standing for Personal Computer 1 and 512 from its memory size of 512 Kbytes – considered quite large at the time – was first manufactured in 1986.

This Amstrad computer was purchased by the donor in 1991 and used mainly for typing minutes, letters, etc., and to play some games.
