Description
Rectangular wooden plaque with a brass plate in the centre. The border of the plaque has a block like pattern. In the centre is a brass plate with a picture of the Southern Cross aeroplane. The aeroplane is pictured in profile with the following words above it: "First Tasman Air Transit 1928". Below the aeroplane, the following words are printed: "Australia - New Zealand - 10/11 September Return Flight 13 October Fokker FVII B-3M "Southern Cross" Charles Kingsford Smith; Charles T.P. Ulm; H.A Litchfield; T.H. McWilliams". On the right is a signature of one Reginald Mason with the date Sept. '78 under it. On the back are a pair of small round hooks with a white string tied to them. There are 2 labels on the back. The top one says: "Aviation Graphics Ltd. The Airport, Hamilton Rukuhia R.D.2 New Zealand Ph.434-740". On top are printed the words: "Aviation Art & Craft for Industry & Enthusiast". At the bottom of the plaque, is another label with the words: "The surface is lacquered against
