Description
Addressing machine, Addressograph Class 500, consisting of a solid cast iron base standing firmly on 4 short legs. On top is a flat deck and a carbon ribbon running from one left to right. The ribbon tension and roll can be controlled by 2 black circular knobs on the front which rotate in both directions. There is a hinged arrangement on top which enables the operator to grip the round knob on top and bring the press down hard on the metal frame which rests on top of the carbon ribbon. The plain sheet of paper to be printed on is then slipped in under the carbon to convey the impression of the stencilled frame onto it. Also included are a box of frames with names and addresses of individual persons. Box is cardboard while the frames are aluminium. The names and addresses are embossed in reverse on the frames so that they come up straight and legible after the printing.
