Box made of porcupine quills. The base is dark-stained wood, possibly ebony, and there is a sliding lid. The sides are made from porcupine quills. Decorated with small pieces of inset shell or ivory.

That box I believe to be made of ebony wood, the white insets are ivory & correctly it is decorated with porcupine quills. I may still own a damaged one that we kept our marjong set back in the 1950's.
