Description
Built by John Key and Son, Engineers and Shipbuilders, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, in 1877. This is the original waterworks engine for Auckland. It began pumping in 1879. Its regular use finished in 1928 and it was kept as a reserve pumping station until 1935.

Built by John Key and Son, Engineers and Shipbuilders, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, in 1877. Keys were shipbuilders and makers of marine and stationary steam engines.
This beam engine is the original waterworks engine for Auckland, beginning pumping in 1879. Its regular use finished 1928 and it was kept as a reserve pumping station until 1935.
