Description
Sewing box and contents.
1 - Wooden box with hinging lid. Stained dark brown. Mother of Pearl inlay on top and "AS" etched into it. Inside box is a pull out tray with 9 compartments (One divider is missing/broken). Parts 2-13 contained within box.
2 - Small wooden spool of white thread, Clark & Co.s.
3 - Wooden spool of brown thread
4 - Paper needle book with fabric covering and white felt pages. One needle within
5 - Small metal key to lock box
6 - Short thin pencil. Metal end cap with ring. Painted white and impressed "LYON'S [...]"
7 - Newspaper Clipping with two poems on one side "THE TRUE PHILOSPHY";"A WOMAN'S SIGH" and an incomplete section of an article on the reverse "THE NEW WAR OFFICE"
8 - US fractional currency ten cent ($0.10) note, fifth issue with image of William Meredith and a red ink seal/stamp
9 - Three rail tickets on purple paper from "UNION RAILWAY CO. / CAMBRIDGEPORT / 1874", image of "CAMBRIDGE & BOSTON" carriage on reverse
10 - Small circular sample tin of Mentholatum from The Mentholatum Company, Bridgeburg, Ontario, Canada
11 - An Acorn
12 - 11 buttons
13 - Paper envelope marked "Childrens Hair". Inside are three paper packets marked "Jean's Hair 2 1/2 Years";"Brian's Hair 1 Year", each packet contains a small lock of hair there is also one loose lock of hair in the envelope
