Small circular holes around circumference of disc, disc perforated in patterns to form musical tune when played. Printed on front: manufacturer's logo, statement 'Made in Leipzig (Germany)' and 'You've got a long way to go', which is the title of the song the disc plays. Directly opposite on the other side of disc is a printed arrow and the numbers '15' and '325'.
Brief History
Disc musical boxes were manufactured from the 1880s and become popular around 1890 as they were more user friendly and less expensive to produce than cylinder music players. The Symphonion company of Leipzig, Germany, is often cited as the first manufacturer of a disc-playing music box, in which discs such as this metal one played music.
