Description
Certificate of membership for John Ganly for serving as a member of the Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade for a period of three years dating from 3rd. December 1940. Signed by Thos. J. Watts, Secretary. At the top of the certificate is a banner with United Fire Brigades' Association N.Z. in it. It has stylised leaves on the left and right sides. In the centre at the top and bottom are stylised leaves with curved edges. Underneath the banner is an image of an old fire engine. The image is enclosed in red and blue lines and curves with flowers in the upper corners. Under the image are two sections of lines and curves with a fire helmet in front of two crossed fire axes. Under this is the text of the certificate. One each side of the text is a blue uniformed man wearing boots and a gold helmet holding a hose that is pointing out of the edge of the certificate. The two hoses curve down to join at an pipe attachment in the centre at the bottom of the certificate. Under the attachment is a logo for the United Fire Brigades Association. From the logo and behind the hoses are curved leafy vines extending up to the boots of the fire fighters. The outer edges of the certificate have vertical and horizontal grey and blue lines meeting in squares and angles at the corners.
