A quilt in the Grandmother's Flower Garden design. This design features a repeated hexagonal layout with a central hexagon surrounded by rows of hexagons.
This quilt was started in Scotland in 1860 and completed in New Zealand after Martha Carrie (nee Gordon) arrived in 1863 on the S.S. Ganges. The quilt has a red border.
The red backing is newer than the patchwork.
