Brief History
This hut was originally the the upper deck of the original tram, and later bus, Dispatchers Hut. It was located in central Auckland, near the corner of Customs Street West and Queen Street, at the tram terminus, where todays Britomart bus terminus is now situated. It was built by the Auckland City Council Tramways in the early 1920s and was donated to MOTAT in the mid 1960s when surplus to the requirements of the Auckland Regional Authority. It was elevated above the footpath, allowing for tram jacks and pole repair gear to be stored beneath.
