Description
Black and white original print of three standing in the garden beside a villa style house. From left to right is Mr Blackwood, Les Birch and Mr Easthope.

Les Birch was a amateur, also known as ham, radio operator, who with Blackwood and Easthope figured in Charles Ulm and Charles Kingsford Smith's trans-Tasman flight.

These men staffed the ham radio station, ZL2HI, which was a land based New Zealand radio.
