Description
A squat ceramic jar with a bulbous base and a square opening. Features a caricature of 'Old Bill', an ageing soldier in the British army. The cartoon is captioned: 'When the 'ell is it going' to be strawberry?'. 'Old Bill' was created by a soldier-artist, Bruce Bairnsfarther, during World War One, initially as a form of recording the realities of the war. The verso of the jar has a coloured insignia. The jar has a gilded rim. Stamped with makers details on the base.
