Description
A grey cast iron rectangular time switch. Front surface is hinged and held in place with a screw clasp. Square window in centre of front surface. Front surface is textured with an engraved diamond pattern. Interior contains a circular disc with the numbers 1-12 on each semicircle. Three hands protruding from the top and bottom of the disc, reading "IN" and "OUT". Disc sits on a motor encased in a circular gold-coloured motor. Springs and other mechanisms sit below clock face. Hinged handle on top surface. Time switches were commonly used to switch street lighting on at dusk and off at dawn.
