Description
First day cover commemorating the 31st anniversary of the last flight of the Wellington, 31 March 1953. Above the heading is Wellington. Below the heading, down the left side of the envelope, is the image of a Wellington in flight over countryside. In the lower left corner is John Young's signature. The image is captioned on the right. The caption reads: Air test 425 Sqn RCAF in Yorkshire late summer 1942. Across the top, to the right of the heading is a postmark with the text 31st anniversary of the last flight of the Wellington, a bird logo, Jersey 31 Mar 84 and a 9 p stamp with 1959 Europa 1984 across the top and Jersey across the bottom. The lower right area is filled with information. The text reads:
Because the only remaining Vickers Wellington is permanently on display in the Bomber Command Museum, this cover was flown in Vickers Varsity T1 WL697, the lineal descendant of the Wellington on a trails sortie from the Royal Aeronautical Establishment, Farnborough.

To the left of the captain, pilot and flight time information is a Royal Canadian Air Force Squadron 425 badge, logo and motto. The logo is a bird and very similar to the one that appears in the postmark. In the lower right corner is a sticker. The text reads: Bomber Command Museum, Aerodrome Road, Hendon. On the back is an ink stamp, the text reads: Royal Air Force 22 Jun 84 Farnborough.
