Description

Personal flying gear of Arthur Frank Tate, Flying Officer No. N.Z. 415387 RNZAF (131 Squadron - 1943-1944). "Mae West" life jacket AM identity no.M/50227. This jacket is khaki-coloured with buoyancy devices on each side. A series of belts, buttons and studs help keep the jacket in place on the wearer. "RNZAF" (Royal New Zealand Air Force) is printed in a stylised form on the right breast surrounded by a pair of laurel wreaths and a crown on top.
