Description
Portable telecommunication device (or TDD) for the deaf or hearing impaired. Grey plastic rectangular box, hinged, opens to reveal black plastic interior with QWERTY keypad and small screen on one half, and a telephone docking station on the other. Powered by five 12V batteries. Black vinyl case with a Velcro-sealed flap and wrist strap. Owner's manual and pamphlet, grey with purple writing.
Brief History
The Touch Talk Travel Pro was the first product made by ZiCom Technologies, and was on the market by 1990 when the United States federal govenment was working to enact the Americans With Disabilities Act, which prohibited discrimination against disabled Amercians. At the time, devices using new technologies to assist those with disabilities tended to be made by smaller businesses such as ZiCom.
